Addie's big trip to the vet...

So Friday was a big day in our household. Addison, our almost 6 month old Yellow Lab puppy went to see Dr. Haffner for her Spay. It was a full, put you out, type surgery and when we went to pick her up it was like they were handing us a different dog. And I don't mean different like when Ashley Simpson's nose when under the knife. I mean Addie was so mellow and well...miserable. She was still pretty doped up and we have perscribed meds we have to give her daily.

We had to carry her everywhere..she couldn't jump up...run...any of that...so we got home. Charlie got my fleece blanket and Addie's from her kennel...we put them together on the living room floor and she just curled up and went to sleep. It was as if she was saying..thank god I'm home...no more hospital jello.

They gave us sedatives for her since she is so active and well downright hyper at times. Evidently, we have to have her take it easy for the first week until the tissues can reconnect..then we're in the clear a bit more. So thanks to these nuggets of joy called "pill pockets" from Greenies, medicine is like candy for our little girl.

Today was the true test of the sedatives, however. We gave her the perscribed amount and no sooner do I get off the phone having just told the nurse from banfield that everything was A-OK...Addie goes into this ...Normal stuper...running around...jumping up after bugs...of course Charlie and I are like "NOOOOOO"! we're such nerds.

so I called the pet hospital and we had to up her dosage. Leave it to my dog to by hyper. So far she is doing really well..I think she'll be back to her bug eatin' self by late next week.
