Designer inspired Wines & Art??
This past weekend, my friend Allie and I went down to the Arbor Lakes Shopping "area". I call it an area becuase it's all outdoors and they even have music piped in through speakers hidden in the landscaping. It feels really high end, but don't be fooled, you can still get really great deals.
I did a little shopping here and there, but my prized purchase was a framed Jack Vettriano Print.
It's called The Singing Butler. It is one of his most famous pieces and the original just sold at Sotheby's for more than $1 Million! For me, I usually can't bring myself to buy the prints, even though I love them so much. The framed prints are usually $80 and up. It's kinda hard to spend $100 on pictures for me...I know they will have a great place in my home and add warmth and value, but it's still hard.
So when I walked into this "home goods" type store I immediately walked to the back of the store and searched the sale items. And there it was! A huge framed print of The Singing Butler! The best part??? it was on sale for $29.99! This is where I about lost it. I looked in awe at the clerk and said...Is this correct?? She checked and said..YES! It's only $29.99...a total steal huh?!
Steal? Yeah it felt like stealing. I snatched that print up faster than you can say boo. Later when we were shopping I found a smaller print of the same at a different store...it was marked $89.99! Talk about throwing buyers remorse out the window after seeing that.
I started looking up more from Jack Vettriano. I LOVE his stuff. I would give anything for an original of his...however, I would most likely have to cough up $20,000+. There are two other prints I really like Waltzers (sold for $53,000) the other is called A Very Dangerous Beach.
After my amazing purchase, Allie and I went to Buca Di Beppo. It's amazing family style Italian food...eh em..Cuisine.
I had one of the best glasses of wine ever! It was Loduca Lambrusco. $8.50 a glass...so it should have been good. When I got home I called our local wine experts at Westside Liquor. Turns out that not only do they have it, but the wine guy recommended other wines like it. So I am thinking...ok..sounds great, but at $8.50 a glass, how the hell much is the bottle going to be? Try $8.99! what?! So here I'm thinking I hit the goldmine with this "higher priced" wine and really it's only 9 bucks! So I feel duped by the markup from Buca...but thrilled that I will be able to enjoy a little Lambrusco more often than not.

Hi! Sounds like you had a great day- a good deal and good wine : ) I found the exact same prints at Homegoods! Vettriano is my favorite artist. I have his Singing Butler over my fireplace and Waltzers over the sofa. If you have a moment, come on over to my blog and check it out: http://thetinytudor.blogspot.com/2010/08/parlor-or-living-room.html
