Wedding Cakes & You: 101


My mother and I went to the Coldspring Bakery earlier this week and finally discovered why so many brides go ga-ga over their cakes. It's soo much fun! You can do just about anything and I hate to say it, but you don't even have to have real cake! The cake I have chosen will be perfect with the them we have going.

It is a Martha Stewart Original and I love it! The only difference is that the lace pattern on the cake will match the pattern on the invitations. I am thinking of having the rolled fondant chocolate with blue lace patterns on it. I think it would be a unique modern twist on the cake!

The only problem is that most people aren't to FOND of FONDant. So, since the cake only feeds 126 people, we will also have sheet cakes. They will be made with buttercream frosting and each piece will have either our monogram or a lace pattern on it. I am not sure if the Holiday Inn serves the cake or not. I guess we'll soon find out!
